Webflow University is Webflow's official, free training platform. It offers video courses, role-based paths (designer, visual developer, marketer, content editor), checklists and a glossary, mostly in English.
The courses are free. The official certifications, Webflow Practitioner and Webflow Visual Developer, are paid: 50 multiple-choice questions, valid for two years.
Here is how the platform is organized as of October 2026, and in what order to follow the content depending on your profile.

To learn Webflow, the most reliable source is still the company that makes it. Webflow University keeps up with new platform features (components, Localize, AI, MCP) faster than most third-party courses. Here is what it contains and how to use it without getting lost.

What is Webflow University?
Webflow University is the online learning center Webflow created to teach people how to design, build and manage a site on its platform. Access to the courses is free. The technical documentation is hosted on the Webflow Help Center (help.webflow.com), which the University links to.
What Webflow University contains in 2026
- Courses: short, timed modules, for example Getting Started with Webflow (23 minutes) or Set up your team in Webflow (40 minutes).
- Videos: specific topics, from migrating a site to Webflow (over an hour) to translating CMS content with Localize (7 minutes).
- Learning paths: series of courses built around a goal, such as the AI & the Webflow MCP path (intermediate level, about two hours).
- Role-based paths: Designer, Visual developer, Marketer, Reviewer, Content editor and Admin.
- Checklists: SEO, design system and pre-launch review, useful even for experienced users.
- Glossary and interactive learning: to understand the vocabulary (classes, Collections, breakpoints) before you start practicing.
Where should you start, depending on your profile?
| Profile | Starting point | Next |
|---|---|---|
| Complete beginner | Getting Started with Webflow | Designer path, then the pre-launch checklist |
| Designer coming from Figma | Designer path | Components and design system, then the Visual developer path |
| Marketer | Marketer path | SEO checklist and the course on optimizing for AI search |
| Writer or content team | Webflow for Content editors | Design & manage CMS content in Webflow |
| Team lead | Set up your team in Webflow | Admin path and the course on AI guardrails |
A practical tip: follow each course with a test site open in another tab and redo every step yourself. Watching without practicing gives you the illusion of understanding.
Webflow certifications: format, price and validity
According to the Webflow University certifications page (checked in October 2026), there are two exams:
| Certification | Audience | Format | Validity | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Webflow Practitioner | Beginners, platform fundamentals | 50 multiple-choice questions | 2 years | Registration fee for each attempt |
| Webflow Visual Developer | Experienced users, production sites | 50 multiple-choice questions | 2 years | Registration fee for each attempt |
The exams are taken online through the Certiverse platform. No course is required before the exam, but the University paths are recommended. Webflow notifies certificate holders before expiration so they can renew. Is Webflow University free?
Yes for the courses, videos, paths and checklists. A free Webflow account is enough to practice, since the Starter plan lets you build and preview a site. Only the certifications are paid.
Webflow University compared with other ways to learn
| Option | Strengths | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Webflow University | Free, official, up to date with new features | Mostly in English, little personalized support |
| Webflow Help Center | Precise answers, feature by feature | Documentation, not a learning path |
| Tutorials in French | Language, real-world cases | Uneven quality and freshness |
| Paid training | Guidance, funding possible depending on the provider | Cost, content sometimes behind the current interface |

Our advice for teams taking over a Webflow site
At Synqro, a Webflow Premium Partner since 2019, the goal of a project is that at delivery the client's team can edit its content on its own. For that, the Content editor path on Webflow University is usually enough: it covers updating pages and Collections with no risk to the design. If you are planning a site, our Webflow agency delivers a complete site in 8 to 12 weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The courses, videos, paths and checklists are free. Only the official certifications are paid, with a registration fee for each attempt.
