Best SEO training in 2026: comparison, CPF funding and real prices

An SEO training course is a structured program that teaches you how to make a website visible in search results: understanding indexing, choosing queries, producing pages that answer them and measuring what moves. In France in 2026, the choice is no longer only about the syllabus. Two decrees tightened funding through the CPF, France's personal training account, and the out-of-pocket cost has changed by an order of magnitude.
This article covers the funding rules in force, the certifications that are actually registered, the prices we found by format and the free resources that still exist.

What changed in 2026 on funding
This is the point online comparisons have not caught up with, and it changes the math. Three texts came into force this year in France.
| Rule | Since | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Flat contribution raised to €150 | registrations filed from April 2, 2026, decree no. 2026-234 of March 30, 2026 | It replaces the indexed amount of €103.20. The training provider is not allowed to reimburse it. Four exemptions remain, including job seekers registered with France Travail and employees receiving an employer top-up. |
| €1,500 cap on certifications in the specific register (RS) | February 20, 2026, decrees no. 2026-126 and 2026-127 of February 24, 2026 | SEO almost always goes through an RS certification. Above €1,500, the excess is on you. RNCP titles remain uncapped. |
| Final exam mandatory or funding must be repaid | article 59 of law no. 2026-534 of June 25, 2026 | Missing the exam without a legitimate reason means repaying the amounts committed and a temporary suspension of rights. Funding a certification you already hold is prohibited. |
In concrete terms: a certifying course listed at €1,980 used to leave about €100 out of pocket. Today it leaves close to €630: €480 above the cap, plus the €150 contribution. A course listed under €1,500 costs only the contribution. This has become the first sorting criterion, ahead of the syllabus.
The certifications that actually exist
There is no RNCP title (France's national register of professional qualifications) dedicated to SEO alone. SEO appears as a skills block in broader level-6 titles, such as web project manager or web marketing manager. What exists in its own right are certifications in the specific register, which you can verify on France Compétences, the national body that registers them:
- RS7511, Growing your business with organic search, certified by Webmarketing & Co'm, registered on January 28, 2026, expiring January 28, 2031;
- RS7500, Improving a website's visibility through organic search and optimization for generative AI, certified by La WAB, registered on January 28, 2026, expiring January 28, 2029;
- RS7285, Writing content for the web, certified by LearningShelter, registered on September 24, 2025, used by programs with an editorial focus.
A word of caution: the RS6521 listing, still cited by many articles, has been inactive since February 9, 2026 and replaced by RS7500. If a provider still displays it, its page has not been updated, and that tells you something about how serious it is.
Two industry certifications also circulate, QASEO and CESEO, issued by FePSeM. They are not registered with France Compétences, so they cannot be funded through the CPF. They validate a level among peers, which is not the same thing.
The prices actually charged
The prices below were taken from the providers' official pages in September 2026, not copied from a comparison.
| Format | Example found | Listed price |
|---|---|---|
| Modular e-learning | FormaSEO, Abondance network | €299 per course when self-funded, €499 for the search engine algorithms module, higher rates via OPCO and France Travail |
| CPF-eligible certifying course | La WAB, SEO and GEO program, RS7500 | €1,485 incl. VAT, 42 hours over 8 weeks |
| Open-enrollment, 2 days | Cegos | €1,550 excl. VAT |
| Open-enrollment, 2 days | ISM | €1,495 excl. VAT |
| Intensive in-person, 3 days | Eskimoz Academy | from €2,160 incl. VAT, 21 hours, OPCO only |
| In-house, 2 days | Cegos and ISM | €4,290 to €4,485 excl. VAT for the group |
Two honest remarks. LiveMentor and Mantra do not display their price on their course page: the €1,980 and €1,990 figures repeated in comparisons are not sourced from the provider, so we do not repeat them. And FormaSEO mentions a CPF offer coming soon, which means its programs are not eligible today, contrary to what several rankings say.
The useful benchmark: the value of an SEO course does not follow its price. A well-chosen €300 module is worth more than a €2,000 program you will only complete a third of.
The free resources that still exist
Checked in September 2026, because this landscape moves and half of the lists online point to pages that have closed.
- Google Skillshop, Fundamentals of Digital Marketing, 40 hours, including a module on search. It is the successor to Google's Ateliers Numériques program, whose former address now redirects to grow.google. Google offers no dedicated SEO certification.
- Semrush Academy, available in French, SEO Fundamentals course and crash course, free certificates.
- HubSpot Academy, SEO Certification Course, 3 h 35 min, in English, certification included.
- Ahrefs Academy, a 14-lesson beginner course and a course dedicated to Answer Engine Optimization, available without a paid subscription.
Moz Academy, on the other hand, is paid. And for a scope more about tools than method, our article on free Webflow training lists the equivalent on the website-building side.
How to choose based on your situation
Three cases cover most requests.
You are starting out and paying for it yourself. Start with the free options, seriously, for two to three weeks. If you keep up, a paid €300 module on a specific topic is worth more than a full program. If you do not, the €2,000 course would not have changed anything.
You want a fundable certification. Look first at the listed price against the €1,500 cap, then at the listing number. A provider that does not publish it is wasting your time.
You are training a team. In-house training costs more per line item but less per person from five participants, and it works on your own pages. It is the only format where the training produces a deliverable you can use directly.
What a training course will not fix
A course teaches a method. It does not diagnose your site. If your pages are not being crawled properly, no module will spot it for you: that is the job of a technical SEO audit, and it comes before, not after.
Nor does it replace support tailored to your context. When the question is "where do I start on my site", the right format is SEO coaching, not an online course. And if you are torn between upskilling and hiring, our article on the role of an SEO consultant lays out the trade-offs.
One last point, often forgotten: without metrics, training does not turn into results. Set three SEO KPIs before you start, or you will not know whether it helped.
A word about the long-standing trainers, because rankings copy them without checking. Olivier Duffez of WebRankInfo has not given training courses since 2019 and focuses on consulting and tools. His training page returns an error. A comparison that still lists him as an active provider has not been reviewed.
Our position
Synqro is a Webflow Premium Partner agency that works with companies in Paris and across France. We do not sell off-the-shelf SEO training, so this ranking is not a sales pitch. As a Webflow SEO agency, we do train our clients' teams on their own site, which is a different exercise.
For Elevo, we combined Webflow development and training with a simple goal: that the team publishes and optimizes without coming back to us. The details are in the Elevo case study. With a similar scope, KIS followed the same path.
If you want to know whether training, coaching or a service fits your situation, describe your context to us and we will tell you frankly which one applies, even if it is not us. And to understand our work on the build side, our Webflow agency page explains the method.
Frequently asked questions
There is no single one. In France, the most useful filter is financial before it is educational: since February 2026, the CPF caps funding at €1,500 for certifications in the specific register, where almost all SEO courses sit. A course under that cap, with a published listing number and an identified trainer, ticks the essentials.
