Synqro thumbnail: a Search Console curve rising after the start of ongoing SEO support

Ongoing SEO support is a recurring engagement, usually monthly, in which a specialist or a team audits your site, sets priorities, produces or oversees the optimizations (technical, content, links) and measures results to grow organic traffic and inbound leads.

It differs from a one-off audit by its duration and its execution, and from coaching in that the provider does part of the work itself. Today it also covers GEO: visibility in the answers of AI Overviews, AI Mode or ChatGPT.

This guide details what it includes, how it unfolds, how long it lasts, what it costs and the questions to ask before signing.

What is ongoing SEO support?

Ongoing SEO support: a team tracking a site's visibility over time

Ongoing SEO support is the most complete form of organic search service. An SEO consultant or a team takes charge of the strategy and part of the execution, month after month, with measurable goals: impressions, clicks, rankings on the queries that matter, and above all inbound leads.

SEO works slowly and every site changes: new offers, new pages, competitors publishing, Google updates. Ongoing support lets you adjust the plan continuously instead of letting an audit gather dust in a folder.

What ongoing SEO support includes

AreaTypical actionsDeliverable
Audit and strategyTechnical audit, competitor analysis, keyword researchPrioritized action plan
TechnicalIndexing, speed, redirects, duplication, structured dataFix tickets for the developer
ContentNew pages, updates, internal linking, FAQsBriefs or ready-to-publish content
AuthorityLinks and mentions from relevant sitesList of links obtained
GEOPages that are easy to cite, tracking presence in AI answersAI visibility report
ManagementKPI tracking, regular check-ins, quarterly reviewMonthly report and plan for the next quarter

Before signing, check who produces what. Many disappointments come from a misunderstanding: the client expected content, the provider delivered recommendations.

How ongoing SEO support unfolds

SEO support strategy defined step by step

Month 1: scoping and audit

Read access to Search Console and Google Analytics, a technical audit, analysis of the pages that already generate impressions, keyword research and goal setting. We also gather internal material: brochures, figures, case studies, questions from the sales team.

Months 2 and 3: fixes and quick wins

Blocking technical fixes, rewriting the title tags of pages close to page one, updating content that has lost rankings, internal links to the pages that convert.

After that: continuous production and quarterly reviews

New pages, enrichment of existing pages, links, tracking of SEO KPIs. Every three months, a review compares results with goals and redirects the plan: what works gets more effort, what does not is dropped.

How long does ongoing SEO support last?

There is no standard duration. SEO results are measured in months, not weeks: think in quarters, with a first solid review after six months. In its page "Do you need an SEO?" (June 2026), Google reminds you to ask the provider what results they expect, within what timeframe and how they measure them.

Three factors affect the timeline: the technical starting point, competition on your queries and the pace of production. A healthy site that publishes every month progresses faster than a site held back by indexing problems.

How much does ongoing SEO support cost?

The price depends mainly on the volume of production included: number of pieces of content per month, links, development. At Synqro, ongoing SEO support costs €1,000 to €5,000 per month, excluding VAT. To compare the other formats (audit only, billed days, freelancer), see our guide to SEO service pricing.

What drives the price up:

  • the number of pages to create or rewrite each month;
  • the budget for links and press relations;
  • the development included (fixes, new page templates);
  • the number of languages or markets targeted.

Ongoing support, audit or coaching: which format to choose?

FormatWhat you getWho executesFor whom
One-off auditA diagnosis and an action planYour teamA site that has stalled, before a redesign
CoachingSessions to build skillsYour team, with guidanceA company that wants to bring SEO in-house
Ongoing supportStrategy, production and follow-upThe provider, with youA growth goal without a dedicated team

If you have a writer or a project manager available, SEO coaching costs less and keeps the skills in the company. Otherwise, ongoing support is safer: production does not depend on your teams' availability.

The GEO side: getting cited in AI answers

SEO and GEO support: visibility in Google and in AI-generated answers

According to Google's documentation on AI Overviews and AI Mode, there is no additional requirement to be cited there: an indexed page eligible for a snippet can appear as a source link. Google also explains that these features run several related searches in parallel (query fan-out), which can surface pages that answer a specific sub-question.

In an ongoing engagement, GEO translates into short answers at the top of the page, clear definitions, tables, cited sources, real FAQs, and work on brand mentions on other sites. The same pages serve classic SEO.

How to choose your SEO support partner

Goals of ongoing SEO support: customers and brand image

Ask these questions at the first meeting:

  1. What is produced each month, and by whom?
  2. Which metrics will you track, and which ones are tied to my revenue?
  3. Can you show results achieved on comparable sites?
  4. How do you bring our industry knowledge into the content?
  5. What is the commitment period, and what happens if we stop?

Stay away from promises of a guaranteed first position and from mass link buying: they expose the site to Google's spam policies, which explicitly target link schemes.

Our approach to ongoing support at Synqro

At Synqro, every SEO and GEO engagement starts by collecting the client's real data: brochures, figures, concrete cases, objections heard in sales meetings. That is what lets us write content no competitor can copy, and that answer engines have reasons to cite. Every quarter, a review helps us reprioritize.

A documented example: at Qobra, the engagement led to 3x more leads and 16x more organic traffic. To see how this method would apply to your site, explore our SEO and GEO support offer.
