Synqro thumbnail: median website budgets in France by project type, according to La Fabrique du Net

The cost of a website is the cost of the days of work needed to design it, build it and fill it, plus recurring fees for the domain name, hosting and maintenance. In France, the median measured across 1,312 real budgets reported by 175 agencies was €5,200 in early July 2026, within a common range of €3,000 to €15,000.

This article explains where that spread comes from, line by line, and gives you the benchmarks to read a quote without getting fooled.

What a website really costs in France

The most solid benchmark available today comes from the price barometer by La Fabrique du Net, a French agency directory, with data closed in early July 2026. It is based on 1,312 real project budgets reported by 175 listed agencies. The median is €5,200, within a common range of €3,000 to €15,000.

By project type, the medians break down as follows: €3,500 for a brochure website, €10,000 for e-commerce, €18,000 for custom development.

By technology, the gap is of the same order.

TechnologyObserved medianWhat it most often covers
Wix€2,500Simple brochure websites built on a site builder
WordPress€5,000Brochure sites and blogs, often with plugins
Webflow€6,500Custom brand websites and acquisition websites
Shopify€15,000Standard e-commerce
Custom development€18,000Business applications and customer portals
PrestaShop€20,000E-commerce with specific needs

Medians measured by La Fabrique du Net across 1,312 real project budgets reported by 175 agencies, data closed in early July 2026.

Two precautions before using these figures. They are medians, not averages: half of the projects cost less, the other half cost more. And the same publisher's dedicated e-commerce barometer, built on 402 budgets, puts the e-commerce median much higher, at €15,000. Depending on the scope considered, the same word covers very different projects.

Why two quotes for the same site can differ threefold

A website has no list price because it has no fixed content. What you are buying is days of work. The calculation is almost always the same: a number of days multiplied by a daily rate.

The rate barometer from Malt, a European freelance platform, cited by La Fabrique du Net in its overview of web freelancer rates (July 2026), gives the order of magnitude of that rate for independent developers: €317 per day on average with 0 to 2 years of experience, €435 with 3 to 7 years, €576 with 8 to 15 years, €672 beyond that.

Do the math. A five-page site delivered in eight days by an experienced profile mechanically lands around €3,500. The same site with custom mockups, animations, fifteen written pages and a redirect migration takes twenty-five to thirty days. You reach €12,000 without either quote being dishonest.

So the right question is not how much a website costs, but how many days it takes, and from whom. The typical timeline, step by step, is in our article on how long it takes to build a website.

Budget by project type

The brochure website

Five to ten pages, a form, no catalog. It is the most common format and the most poorly named, because it covers an online business card as well as a real acquisition tool. We detail the real ranges in our guide to brochure website cost.

The term also covers very different design choices, at a comparable budget. Here are three brochure websites we designed, in three registers that have nothing in common.

Home page of the Causélis website, a service that refers people to a lawyer, with the headline On connaît un avocat pour vous and a watercolor illustration of a courthouse

Causélis: a clear editorial register and custom illustration, for a subject where reassurance matters more than effect.

Home page of the Garden Reclaimer website on a dark background, with a photo of a device sitting in the grass and the tagline Passez à l'action, réservez votre essai locatif

Garden Reclaimer: dark background and product photo, the whole page leads to the rental trial. The details are in the Garden Reclaimer case study.

Home page of the la combine website, a motion design studio, black background and neon green accent, with the headline Le motion design que votre marque mérite

la combine: strong contrast and a neon accent, a deliberate choice for a motion design studio.

The brand or acquisition website

Here, the site has to generate inbound requests. The budget rises because the work shifts toward content strategy, landing pages and performance tracking. This is the territory of a Webflow agency rather than a flat-fee provider. For Qobra, a SaaS company, this work on landing pages and interactive tools produced three times more leads and sixteen times more organic traffic. The details are in the Qobra case study.

The e-commerce website

The catalog, payments, logistics and product feeds change the nature of the project. The barometer puts the e-commerce median between €10,000 and €15,000 depending on scope, with very wide gaps between platforms.

Custom development

Business application, customer portal, connections to an ERP. This is no longer a website but a product, with a median of €18,000 and no real ceiling.

Recurring costs the quote does not always show

The domain name is paid every year. Check the renewal price and not just the first-year price, the gap is often large.

Then hosting. On classic shared hosting, many offers show a promotional price for the first year, then return to the regular price: the advertised price is not the price paid over three years. We cover the types of offers in our guide to web hosting.

On Webflow, hosting is included in the site plan. Since the pricing overhaul of May 13, 2026, Starter is still free, Basic costs $15 per month billed annually ($25 monthly) and Premium $25 per month billed annually ($39 monthly), with 20,000 CMS items and 40 collections. The former CMS and Business plans have been merged into Premium. The plan details are in our Webflow pricing guide, and the budget for a complete project in our article on Webflow website cost.

That leaves maintenance, updates and, if you are aiming for search visibility, ongoing support. A site that is delivered and then abandoned loses its value within a few months.

What really drives the bill up

  • Content. A ten-page site with copy to write costs more than a twenty-page site whose copy already exists.
  • Custom design. Starting from a template and starting from a blank page do not take the same number of days.
  • Animations and scroll effects, which are priced in days of front-end development.
  • Integrations: CRM, invoicing, booking, member area.
  • Multiple languages, which double the build and content work.
  • Taking over the existing site: redirects, URL history, content to migrate.

How to read a quote without getting fooled

A serious quote shows the number of days or, failing that, the breakdown of deliverables page by page. It specifies who writes the content, how many rounds of revisions are included, what happens after launch, and who owns the project once it is paid for.

Three red flags: a round price with no scope detail, a promise of a position on Google, and a multi-year subscription in which you never own your site.

Redesign rather than creation: the math changes

If the site already exists and generates traffic, the risk is no longer the budget but the loss of rankings. The work on redirects and content preservation then weighs as much as the design. Our method is described in our guide to website redesign.

Our position

Synqro is a Webflow Premium Partner agency that works with companies in Paris and across France. We price by scope, not with a disguised flat fee: a number of days, named deliverables, a price that moves if the scope moves. We also say when a project does not justify an agency, because a €3,000 site handed to a firm that bills €15,000 ends badly for everyone. When the project includes the identity, our branding agency prices it the same way.
